• Stylist Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional consultations by assessing each guest's hair goals, lifestyle, and needs to create a personalized service and healthy hair plan.

  • Provide expert natural hair care services, including curly styling, precision cutting, silk presses, color, protective styling, and restorative treatments, based on your specialty.

  • Educate and empower guests with personalized recommendations for maintaining healthy hair between visits, including styling techniques and at-home care routines.

  • Recommend and retail salon-approved products that support each guest's hair goals while enhancing their overall experience.

  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism by keeping your workstation clean, organized, and compliant with all salon sanitation and safety protocols.

  • Stay committed to continuous education by participating in team trainings, workshops, coaching, and mastering new techniques and industry trends.

  • Build lasting relationships through outstanding customer service, clear communication, and an exceptional guest experience from consultation to checkout.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia Cosmetology License (or the ability to obtain one before your start date).

• Passion for healthy hair and a commitment to delivering exceptional care for textured, curly, coily, and natural hair.

• Strong consultation, communication, and client education skills with the ability to build trust and lasting relationships.

Employment Type: Part-Time

Compensation: Starts at $14.00 per hour. Pay negotiable depending on experience

• Maintain a clean, polished, and welcoming salon environment throughout the day, including the lobby, styling stations, shampoo area, dispensary, and restrooms.

• Assist with salon upkeep by sweeping, sanitizing tools and surfaces, restocking supplies, folding towels, and keeping work areas organized.

• Manage laundry by washing, drying, folding, and restocking towels, capes, and linens to ensure stylists always have what they need.

• Prepare styling stations between guests by resetting tools, replenishing products, and maintaining cleanliness and organization.

• Monitor salon inventory and notify management when back bar products, refreshments, cleaning supplies, or retail items need to be restocked.

• Assist stylists with shampooing (if licensed), setting up for services, mixing color (if applicable), and providing general support to keep appointments running efficiently.

• Welcome guests with a warm, friendly attitude and assist with beverages, directions, or other hospitality needs to create an exceptional salon experience.

• Support the team with special projects, event setup, merchandising, and other tasks that contribute to the overall success and presentation of the salon.

• Take pride in creating a salon environment that is consistently clean, organized, professional, and ready to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Previous salon, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience is a plus, but not required.
